Hollie Doyle ends her successful seven-week stint in Hong Kong with a full book of nine attractive rides headed by Know At Heart in the Class 4 handicap over 6f (12.40) on an interesting pre-Christmas card at Happy Valley.

Doyle has won over local punters and a variety of stables with her bustling, never-say-die style, which has resulted in five winners from 90 rides and prize-money of just over £1 million earned by her mounts.

Impressive as that is, she is returning to Britain determined to bring up a century of winners in the 2025 calendar year. She is sitting on 96 but with all-weather fixtures at Wolverhampton and Southwell awaiting over the coming week.

The Chris So-trained Know At Heart won his maiden at Ellerslie in New Zealand but has drawn a blank in 14 starts locally and has dropped to a competitive mark. He was beaten a short head by California Blitz last time but is tipped to turn the tables on that rival on better weight terms.

Seven of Doyle’s rides were posted at single figure odds in early betting, with Kasa Papa (11.10) and Golden Luck (12.10) the most appealing. Another excellent ride for her is the Francis Lui-trained Steps Ahead in the Class 2 handicap (2.50), in which Regal Gem is on trial over the extended mile and Shanwah attempts to recapture his Australian form.

Harry Bentley is the quiet achiever of jockeys’ room, his ten winners putting him in the middle ranks, and he can build on another solid season by winning the Class 3 handicap over 1m3f (1.10) on Wrote A New Page.

If ever there was a horse needing a longer distance it is this four-year-old, who lacks a turn of foot but can stay on when others are weakening. Last time out he finished third to Joy Of Spring and Liveandletlive over 1m1f looking one-paced.

His danger is Snowfield, the multiple Group 1 winner from Brazil, who has his first experience of Happy Valley.  Like Wrote A New Page, he will need a genuine pace in the middle stages to figure in the finish.

David Eustace’s team is gathering momentum, which can be maintained by Sports Legend, who has the recently promoted Perfect General to beat in the Class 3 6f handicap sprint (2.15).  Angus Chung takes the ride on the multiple Sydney winner for Eustace.
