The Punt Acca: Andrew Cooper's three horse racing tips at Kempton and Wetherby on Wednesday

Three horses to include in a multiple

Support Act (2.45 Wetherby)

Managed a bumper win (at this track) and a hurdles win despite looking a chaser in the making and his first run over fences under rules at Newbury six weeks ago was promising (he was beaten just over seven lengths into fourth). His jumping held him back a tad but the Wetherby fences should pose less of a problem and he can be expected to have learnt a lot. This will be his second outing since undergoing wind surgery and a 2lb drop is welcome.

Kaaranah (6.30 Kempton)

John Butler’s gelding is best caught fresh, he struck over course and distance off an 84-day break in September 2023 and his best Racing Post Rating since was achieved when returning from over eight months off at Newcastle in December. The form of that third place to Urban Road, who has won three times this month, has a solid look to it. Partisan Hero should give Kaaranah and David Egan, who has a healthy level-stakes profit for the yard, something to aim at back from 60 days off here.

Northwest Passage (8.00 Kempton)

A few in the Middle Distance Series Qualifier at Kempton boast a sexier profile than Northwest Passage but there are reasons to think Roger Teal’s colt can capitalise on receiving upwards of a stone, once Warren Fentiman’s useful 7lb claim is factored in, from his five rivals. He’s yet to win but his keeping-on third at Wolverhampton recently has already been franked with the second winning readily next time. Returning to a longer trip is hugely in his favour.
