Top tipster Harry Wilson, who has been in red-hot form this year, takes you through the Aintree card on Saturday, headlined by the Randox Grand National (4.00).

Aintree tips: Saturday's card

1.20
William Hill Top Price Guarantee Handicap Hurdle, 3m½f

Harry's tip: Timmy Tuesday

Timmy Tuesday made it 2-2 in handicaps when winning a novice handicap at Down Royal last month, travelling powerfully and drawing clear after the last to score by six lengths. He hung left that day, just as he did when third over an inadequate trip at Exeter the start before, and should be suited by returning to a left-handed track, while the step up to 3m also promises to suit. He's got some strong formlines, notably finishing second to Final Demand, who won a Grade 1 by a similar distance next time and finished third in the Turners, with subsequent dual winner Will The Wise (BHA rating of 134) behind him, and can rate higher still.

Turners Mersey Novices' Hurdle (Grade 1), 2m4f

Harry's tip: Horaces Pearl

Horaces Pearl beat a stack of subsequent winners when winning the Grade 2 bumper at this meeting 12 months ago. He's looked a useful novice hurdler in two starts, winning without coming off the bridle when tackling this sort of trip for the first time in February, and he's a worth a go in this company.

William Hill Handicap Chase, 3m1f

Harry's tip: Sam Brown

Sam Brown may be a 13-year-old but he is still very capable of producing decent Racing Post Ratings, as he showed when running to a figure of 158 in a veterans' chase at Market Rasen in January and 160 when winning at Newbury last month (fourth has won since). He clearly likes this course, as his three runs in handicap chases here have seen him win this in 2022 and finish second behind Cruz Control last year, with a fall in the National in between. Chad Bament's useful 7lb claim helps to ease his welter burden and I can see a well-earned retirement party waiting when he returns with one final gold.

Ivy Liverpool Hurdle (Grade 1), 3m½f

Harry's tip: Strong Leader

Teahupoo is better after a break, and the ground is far quicker than he'd like, so he has to be taken on. Strong Leader was hugely disappointing in the Long Walk in December and was again below par in the Cleeve Hurdle at Cheltenham in January on his first start since wind surgery. However, he's much better suited to flat tracks like Aintree and was a comfortable winner of this last year, despite ploughing through the last. This has been the main target all season and he's sure to have been primed for the occasion.

Randox Grand National Handicap Chase, 4m2½f

Harry's tip: Iroko

The entire season has been about the Grand National for Iroko and he's long been my idea of the winner, as he's sure to improve for the greater emphasis on stamina. He caught my eye when finishing strongly for second behind subsequent Gold Cup winner Inothewayurthinkin in a Grade 1 at Aintree last year and has been campaigned over inadequate trips to protect his handicap mark this season. His run behind classy chaser Grey Dawning at Kelso should set him up perfectly for this and he's surely better than his mark of 152.

Harry's tip: L'Eau Du Sud

I fancied L'Eau Du Sud for the Arkle at the Cheltenham Festival and he found himself in front two fences from home, but he was beaten by stronger stayers at the trip. Only By Night finished three-quarters of a length in front of him that day and reopposes, but she was suited by coming off the pace in a race that was run to suit and she could find it hard to keep up with the quick and nimble jumping of L'Eau Du Sud at this flatter track. If Cheltenham hasn't left his mark, he'll be very hard to beat.
