Match preview

Wigan managed to retain boss Paul Cook despite speculation linking him to the Sunderland job earlier in the week but visitors Nottingham Forest could still emerge victorious at the DW Stadium.

The Reds will be eyeing their first league win away to the Latics, having failed to take maximum points in their previous seven visits.

But they could scarcely be in a better position to do so, having gained 22 points from 11 games and laying down early promotion claims.

Frenchman Sabri Lamouchi is loving life in England's second tier, overseeing a draw at Leeds and wins against highflying duo Fulham and Swansea among others since arriving in June.

Wigan will represent an entirely different challenge and, despite their lowly league position, they can be stubborn opponents in their own backyard.

They have kept 14 clean sheets at home since the start of the 2018-19 campaign - more than any other club in the Sky Bet Championship - and have lost only one of their last 15 league assignments at the DW Stadium.

They will miss the leadership of skipper Sam Morsy, who is suspended after picking up his fifth yellow card of the season before the international break, but Forest will still need to make the most of the few chances they get.

Lamouchi can draw confidence from the fact they are the only side in the Championship to score in every league game this season, having done so from the fewest number of shots (33) in the division.

With in-form Lewis Grabban leading the line, they should be clinical enough once again to grind out a narrow win.

Key stat

Nottingham Forest are unbeaten in their six Championship away matches this season.
