Aaron Wan-Bissaka makes £50m move to Manchester United

Aaron Wan-Bissaka

Crystal Palace to Man Utd, £50m

Mark Langdon

Manchester United were desperate for a new right-back and as they seek a more humble dressing-room the arrival of Aaron Wan-Bissaka should aid the Red Devils' cause on both fronts.

Wan-Bissaka excels in defensive one-on-ones and the next step will be to work on his final ball - you don't get the full package for a £50m full-back these days!

It could be argued that United would have been better served spending time working on Diogo Dalot, a man Jose Mourinho described as their right-back for the next ten years when he arrived for £21m last summer, but patience is in short supply at Old Trafford.

James Justin

Luton to Leicester, undisclosed

Mark Langdon

It's a matter of time before Wan-Bissaka plays for England, but don't think he is the only young full-back knocking on the door because the versatile James Justin is a fine talent who should thrive at Leicester.

A proper modern-day full-back, Justin loved to get forward for Luton and has the technique to make a decisive impact in the final third.

Christopher Jullien

Toulouse to Celtic, £7m

Mark Langdon

A tall centre-back who uses his height to good effect in both boxes. His lack of pace could be a problem in Celtic's European campaign.

Joe Aribo

Charlton to Rangers, £300,000

Mark Langdon

This is one of the bargains of the summer and Joe Aribo has been sold so cheaply because he was out of contract at Charlton.

Rangers have signed a dynamic 22-year-old midfielder who will improve and is likely to play in the Premier League one day.

Will Vaulks

Rotherham to Cardiff, £2.1 million

Mark Langdon

Cardiff announced three signings with Sky Bet League Two goalkeeper of the season Joe Day joining Curtis Nelson and Will Vaulks in the Welsh capital.

Day and centre-back Nelson will struggle to start regularly unless there are departures but Vaulks brings robust leadership qualities that will be the hallmark of any Neil Warnock side.

The Welsh international midfielder also possesses a long throw which will have been another plus for Warnock.

Sean Raggett

Norwich to Portsmouth, loan

Mark Langdon

The arrival of Sean Raggett won't have been cheap from a wages point of view but he looks an excellent replacement at Pompey for Matt Clarke after the centre-back headed to Brighton.

Raggett is strong in both boxes and is always one for the goalscorer shortlist at big prices.

Leandro Trossard

Genk to Brighton, undisclosed

Mark Langdon

There will be apprehension from some Seagulls fans at Brighton spending a vast sum on a winger with excellent goalscoring numbers from a Benelux league following Alireza Jahanbakhsh's woeful performances since becoming Albion's record signing this time last season.

However, Brighton need to beef up their offensive options and Leandro Trossard, who scored 14 times for champions Genk in Belgium, is a winger worth chancing.

Trossard may need to do some work to win over the public after being condemned in Belgium for singing a song with homophobic connotations during boozy celebrations following Genk's title triumph.

Andre Gomes

Barcelona to Everton, £22 million

Mark Langdon

Andre Gomes left a strong impression on Everton fans during his loan spell at Goodison Park and it feels like an easty decision to bring him to Merseyside for a fair price.

Gomes keeps Everton ticking along nicely in midfield and his lack of athleticism is compensated for by partner Idrissa Gueye's significantly superior engine.

Jay Dasilva

Chelsea to Bristol City, free transfer

Mark Langdon

There is clear ambition at Bristol City and England Under-21 left-back Jay Dasilva signing on a permanent basis following a successful loan spell is a step in the right direction for the Robins.

City sold Lloyd Kelly for £13m to Bournemouth and they appear to be spending that windfall wisely.

Liam Lindsay

Wigan to Stoke, £2 million

Mark Langdon

Stoke made five signings at once and swiftly added Stephen Ward to make it six and the pick of the signings could well be Liam Lindsay from Barnsley.

The ball-playing centre-back cruised through Sky Bet League One last season and looks a bargain at just £2 million.

Nick Powell

Wigan to Stoke, free transfer

Mark Langdon

Nick Powell is a lovely playmaker and he could be perfect to play at the tip of the diamond if Nathan Jones goes with his preferred formation, but keeping Powell off the treatment table is key.

Wigan won 36 per cent of their matches when Powell started last season and just 17 per cent when he was sidelined.

Adam Davies

Barnsley to Stoke, free transfer

Mark Langdon

The Welsh goalkeeper was excellent for Barnsley in League One and Adam Davies should be able to perform to the same standard in the division above, assuming Stoke's number one Jack Butland is sold this summer.

Lee Gregory

Millwall to Stoke, free transfer

Mark Langdon

Stoke are putting a decent squad together but whether they have the firepower for promotion remains the biggest concern.

Lee Gregory's arrival from Millwall, where he scored ten goals in each of the last two campaigns, does not jump off the page as the man to get the Potters back up to the Premier League.

Josip Drmic

Borussia Monchengladbach to Norwich, free transfer

Sean Cobb

The Swiss striker had his last two years of football with Borussia Monchengladbach marred by injuries, but in his prime the forward scored 17 goals in 33 games for Nuremberg in the Bundesliga.

He scored only six goals in his year at Bayern Leverkusen but his experience in the Champions League, involvement in two World Cups and 32 caps for Switzerland make him a valuable addition to Daniel Farke’s squad.

Drmic finished his last season in Germany with two goals in five games after coming back from injury and could help Norwich get off to a strong start to the Premier League after reportedly being attracted to the club by his national teammate Timm Klose.

Aaron Pierre

Northampton to Shrewsbury, undisclosed

Sean Cobb

Shrewsbury are looking to improve their defensive record and the signing of the sought-after Aaron Pierre from Northampton should help.

The Grenadian centre-back played 45 times for the Cobblers last season and chipped in with eight goals in all competitions.

The supporters’ player of the season and captain for both club and country, Pierre looks well up to the task of moving up to Sky Bet League One.

Freddie Ladapo

Plymouth to Rotherham, £500,000

Sean Cobb

The pacy striker who attracted interest from Sky Bet Championship teams promises to be a great signing for League One Rotherham if he can replicate last season’s form that brought him 18 goals in 45 appearances.

The 26-year-old could not prevent Plymouth from being relegated but he could fare even better at the top of the division where Rotherham need a prolific goalscorer in their bid for promotion.

After splashing a club-record fee thought to be £500,000, manager Paul Warne seems to believe there is considerable potential.

James Vaughan

Wigan to Bradford, free transfer

Sean Cobb

Bradford have landed former Premier League striker James Vaughan on a three-year deal after finishing bottom of League One.

Vaughan hasn’t enjoyed much success in seasons at Sunderland, Wigan and a loan spell at Portsmouth since shining for Bury in 2016-17. The former Everton youth star is 30 now but has a chance to get back among the goals in the fourth division.

Sammy Ameobi

Bolton to Peterborough, free transfer

Mark Langdon

Sammy Ameobi has been one of Bolton's better attacking outlets in recent seasons, which may say more about the toothless Trotters' problems, but it is difficult to see how much he will add to Nottingham Forest's promotion push.

Forest already have, among others, Joe Lolley, Matt Cash and Ben Osborn in wide positions.

Reuben Reid

Forest Green to Cheltenham, free transfer

Mark Langdon

Former Yeovil, Plymouth and Exeter forward Reuben Reid continues his travels around the south-west by joining Cheltenham from Forest Green.

Reid seems to regress the longer he is at a club but in his first year at Plymouth on a permanent basis he scored 18 times before grabbing 13 goals in his debut campaign at Exeter.

He also had an immediate impact at Forest Green so the 30-year-old may be a man to follow early on with Cheltenham.
