Day four preview

With the first four matches in this year's Masters going the way of outsiders, punters should be alive to the two clashes on day four of snooker's premier tournament not going the way the oddsmakers expect.

But the Wednesday fare looks potentially close with Jack Lisowski hoping to improve on his 7-4 personal series lead over Kyren Wilson and, in the evening, Mark Williams and Stuart Bingham, whose head-to-head record is locked at 8-8, trying to nudge ahead of each other.

Lisowski was recommended as outright each-way value by Dave Clark before the Alexandra Palace action started. He is one of a number of players capable of lifting this invitational trophy, but punters should be aware that Wilson hammered his younger opponent 5-1 in the last 16 of the World Open in China in October.

Wilson, who found only Mark Allen too good in north London two years ago, is still chasing a first major career title but it's surely only a matter of time before the Warrior lords it over his rivals in either the Masters, UK or World Championship.

At his best he could again silence Lisowski, but given his career lead over the Kettering cueman it may be worth taking the chance that the outsider can be more competitive in their second meeting of the campaign.

Williams is another master at dominating opponents, but 2015 Crucible king Bingham has been playing some fine snooker this season and the Welshman may have to pull out the stops in order to progress.

Hills are best priced about both matches lasting for at least nine frames and so with it being difficult to be confident about any of the day-four quartet storming to victory, a modest double on both clashes to be closely fought at just under 11-10 could be the answer.
