Miami champion John Isner capable of testing Cilic to the full

Croat could be overrated after opening loss to starlet Zverev

Marin Cilic has been well backed to defeat John Isner in the evening session on day four of the ATP Finals, but the American has arguably played better than the Croat this season.

Cilic broke Alexander Zverev early in both of his sets in his opener against the German but could not hang on as the younger player triumphed 7-6 7-6.

The layers feel Cilic's claims are superior to Isner's following the big-serving beanpole's 6-4 6-3 loss to world number one and title favourite Novak Djokovic.

But Miami Masters champion Isner has played with more purpose for much of 2018 than Cilic and while the 2014 US Open hero leads his opponent 7-3 in their personal series, the outsider has won three of their last four matches.

Isner is 4-6 to win at least a set and that price is hard to fault.

Djokovic takes on Zverev in the afternoon battle of the day-two victors and while the Serb is the man to beat, the outsider is quite capable of making his opponent toil.

Recommendation
J Isner to win at least a set
