Top seed Benoit Paire could be the one to deny qualifier Troicki

Benoit Paire is having the best season of his career and while the Frenchman still has some way to go, it will be disappointing if he fails to win at least one match in the Antalya Open on Wimbledon eve.

Paire, a title winner on clay in Marrakech and Lyon this spring, is charged with stopping the run of qualifier Victor Troicki and while the Serb was a seriously useful performer in his pomp, he’s finding it tough in his bid to climb back up the rankings.

Troicki is getting there, slowly but surely, and because of that there is definite risk in opposing him. But if Paire, who received a first-round bye as top seed in Turkey, turns up and produces the form he has been finding this year, there should be only one winner.

In Eastbourne, Taylor Fritz, who opened with a 6-2 6-3 win over British qualifier Paul Jubb, has a chance to progress further in the Nature Valley International draw with a win over Guido Pella.

But the Argentinian will want to do justice to his top seeding at Devonshire Park and he could be worth an interest to win at least a set against the Californian at a shade of odds-on.
