Dancers divide as race for the glitterball hots up and cracks start to show

Waltz could sink Graeme Swann

Kate Silverton and Aljaz Skorjanec are in danger of a first dance-off
Kate Silverton and Aljaz Skorjanec are in danger of a first dance-off

Week seven
BBC1, 7.05pm Saturday

After a spectacular Halloween weekend in which Seann and Katya left the dancefloor, the remaining couples on Strictly Come Dancing have split into two races – the uber-talented on the rail, and on the far side the loveable but not quite so talented.

Those at the top should be saved from the dance-off by virtue of their scores, and if they undeservedly find themselves in the bottom two, they should be saved by the judges.

Graeme Swann, Kate Silverton and Dr Ranj Singh would be most at risk if pitted against any of the top performers. However, Dr Ranj has a huge fanbase and seems less likely than Swanny or Kate to end up in the dance-off.

BBC journalist Kate tackles the Argentine tango. Given that she was transformed by a traditional tango in week two, she could secure her place for another week.

Ex-England cricketer Swann dances the waltz. He has been at his best in more expressive dances, even if the judges weren’t blown away by his Thriller last week, so may struggle to capture the public’s imagination with slower, more subtle choreography.

Recommendation
Graeme Swann to be eliminated
1pt 7-2 general
