Preview

Defending Betfred Masters champion Stuart Bingham is in for a tough Monday afternoon tackling the exciting Thepchaiya Un-Nooh in his first-round match.

The talented Thai is a dangerous and heavy-scoring opponent capable of toppling anyone if playing near his best.

Un-Nooh is making his Masters debut but is unlikely to be fazed by the occasion playing at a venue that has been used all season behind closed doors.

The 35-year-old has underachieved given his talent. He won the 2019 Shoot Out and the Six Reds World Championship six years ago, but his most recent win came in the Haining Open 15 months ago.

He has gradually climbed the rankings to qualify for this prestigious invitational event and the 2019-20 season was his best as he reached four quarter-finals and the World Open final.

Theppy is fancied to be competitive, but, at a slightly shorter price than he is to win, back him to compile the highest break in the match.

Shaun Murphy can edge out Mark Williams in a battle of classy former Masters champions on Monday night.

Welshman Williams has been selective in his participation this season and inactivity and poor form have resulted in him slipping back to number 15 in the rankings.

Paul Davison, Ricky Walden and Peter Devlin have all beaten the three-time world champion in recent months and the prices for this match are a lot closer than expected.

Murphy has not been in great form himself, but he reached the semi-final of the European Masters in September.

The Magician can conjure up some magic with his long potting to carve out scoring opportunities and he should be backed to come through and book his place in the last eight.
