Brilliant Denny Solomona can seize his chance for Sale

To get to the top of the Premiership tryscoring charts you need to play as many matches as possible, so suspensions and international call-ups can be a hindrance.

Both of those could count against Chris Ashton, a try machine for Saracens, Toulon and England in recent years and now back in England with Sale.

He showed when lining up for the Barbarians against England in the summer that his desire to rejoin the England ranks is high, but he then spoiled his chances by picking up a seven-match ban for a red card in pre-season.

That's why he's a 25-1 shot for top scorer honours, but his Sharks teammate Denny Solomona could well be worth backing.

The New Zealand-born winger bagged 11 last season but seemed to be hitting his stride in the spring with six in three matches, including a hat-trick against Northampton, before picking up a four-match ban which ended his season early.

It's not the first disciplinary issue he has faced and that may count against him picking up more England caps under Eddie Jones, but in a Sale side bristling with attacking intent, he looks sure to shine again.

Three players tied for top spot last year - Josh Adams of Worcester, Newcastle's Vereniki Goneva, and perennial ace marksman Christian Wade of Wasps.

Wade looks a worthy favourite though a short price, but Adams may find his Warriors side struggle to get on top of many teams to create chances while Goneva is 34 now and could find himself making fewer starts.
