Europe 1-33 to extend run of cup triumphs to eight

Chamat's aces in need of just three points to nail trophy

Day three
Sky Action, 7pm Wednesday

The USA Pool Federation should send for veterans Johnny Archer and Earl Strickland, clutch players with decent temperaments (if a little volatile in the Pearl's case), in the wake of their country's latest shambolic start in the Mosconi Cup.

The Americans appeared to have a fine chance to thwart Europe's bid for an eighth successive cup triumph, but 4-1 scorelines in favour of Marcus Chamat's gallant travellers on days one and two have seen the hosts drift to 16-1 to turn an 8-2 deficit on its head in the race to 11 points.

Europe are 1-33 to get the job done once again and Hills make both Billy Thorpe and Shane van Boening even-money shots to win their respective singles encounters against Nick van den Berg and Jayson Shaw.

Van Boening has already beaten Shaw in singles in the closing match on day one. If the Mosconi Cup is not won earlier on Wednesday, the under-pressure South Dakotan is worth an interest to repeat the feat against the Scottish ace.

Recommendation
S van Boening to beat J Shaw
