Catalans v Warrington
BBC1, 3pm Saturday

Tony Gigot’s younger brother Sam became a Wembley hero 18 months ago as he helped Belgian underdogs Gent knock Tottenham out of the Europa League and the Catalans full-back looks a great bet to be the star of the show in the Ladbrokes Challenge Cup final.

The French international was man of the match in the Dragons’ semi-final rout of St Helens and has the flair to become the fourth custodian to win the Lance Todd Trophy since the final returned to Wembley in 2007.

Based on those stats, Warrington’s last line of defence Stefan Ratchford has to be part of the portfolio at 12-1. He was man of the match in July’s league draw between the sides.

The last two Lance Todds were won by Hull scrum-half Marc Sneyd whose kicking game was outstanding and Dragons playmaker Josh Drinkwater could follow in his footsteps.

The Australian has been the catalyst for the Catalans' mid-season revival and could be the key man if the underdogs prevail.

Warrington winger Josh Charnley is the man to be on in the tryscorer markets.

Since returning to rugby league, Charnley has scored in 13 of his 20 appearances. Charnley has notched 22 times of which nine have come in the cup. Only two of his tries have been the opening score so the 10-11 for him to touch down at any time looks a smart bet.

And Kenny Edwards looks great value to get his name on the scoresheet, too. The Kiwi has scored in four of his ten games for Catalans.

Referee Rob Hicks takes charge of his first Challenge Cup final and is 2-1 to be the first arbiter since 2001 to sin-bin a player and 20-1 to brandish a red card.

The last player sent off in the final was Widnes’s Richie Eyres in 1993.
