Free NFL picks, best bets and analysis for Week Three of the 2020 NFL season.

Los Angeles Rams at Buffalo Bills

Where to watch

Sky Sports NFL, 6pm Sunday

Best bet

LA Rams
1pt 11-10 Paddy Power, Sky Bet

Match preview

Sean McVay’s Los Angeles Rams have their swagger back on offence after a frustrating 2019 and have the necessary tools to move to 3-0 at the expense of the Buffalo Bills.

While the 2-0 Bills have been eased into the season with games against the hapless New York Jets and the Miami Dolphins, the Rams are already battle-tested having dispatched the Dallas Cowboys and Philadelphia Eagles.

With strong winds likely to be a factor, whoever can run the ball best could have the edge. McVay has used a varied rushing attack this season and it has paid off with the Rams having the third-most yards on the ground.

If the Bills defence found containing the Dolphins tough last week then they are likely to have a real problem thwarting McVay’s offensive scheme.

Key stats

  • The Rams are 5-0 in early kickoffs on the east coast under Sean McVay.
  • Bills quarterback Josh Allen led the league in passing yards with 727 after Week Two.
  • The road team have won five of the sides' last six meetings.

Dallas Cowboys at Seattle Seahawks

Where to watch

Sky Sports NFL, 9.25pm Sunday

Best bet

Over 56.5 points
1pt 20-23 Betfair, Paddy Power

Match preview

Seattle Seahawks and Dallas Cowboys look set to be two of the NFL’s great entertainers this year, so expect fireworks when they face off at CenturyLink Field.

Early MVP candidate Russell Wilson has been near-perfect so far, the Seattle quarterback throwing only two fewer touchdown passes (nine) than incompletions (11).

His opposite number, Dak Prescott, is also on a roll, taking his passing yards tally through two weeks to 716 when leading the Cowboys to a remarkable 40-39 comeback win over Atlanta last time out.

But while the offences are stellar, both defences have proven as durable as a wet paper bag. Seattle’s pass defence ranks last in the NFL, getting torched by Atlanta and New England, while Dallas, who are missing key players, are 23rd overall.

Throw into the mix that 13 of the Cowboys’ last 19 games have exceeded the total-points line, and this should prove to be a shootout.

Key stats

  • Russell Wilson has completed 52 of his 63 passes for 610 yards with nine touchdowns this season.
  • Seattle have won ten of their last 14 home games.
  • The Seahawks have won five of the last six home matches against Dallas.

Green Bay Packers at New Orleans Saints

Where to watch

Sky Sports NFL, 1.20am Sunday night

Best bet

Over 59.5 Alvin Kamara rushing yards
1pt 5-6 Sky Bet

Match preview

Father time appears to have caught up with 41-year-old New Orleans quarterback Drew Brees and the Saints may need to look elsewhere if they are to end the Green Bay Packers' unbeaten start to the season.

The Saints suffered a shock defeat at the Las Vegas Raiders on Monday and Brees struggled without his main target, wide receiver Michael Thomas. Thomas will be missing again due to an ankle injury so the hosts need running-back Alvin Kamara to step up to the plate.

The Packers have found it tough to contain rushers over the first two weeks, but the dynamic offensive performances of quarterback Aaron Rodgers and running back Aaron Jones have masked their defensive deficiencies.

Kamara had 79 yards on 13 carries against the Raiders and should get a bigger workload against Green Bay, who will find it tricky to keep the Saints ace under control.

Key stats

  • The teams' last four meetings have featured 55 points or more.
  • Sean Payton has won four of this six meetings with the Packers as Saints head coach.
  • Green Bay have scored 43 and 42 points in their first two games.

NFL Week Three non-televised best bets

Best bets

Atlanta -3.5
1pt 19-20 Betway, BoyleSports
Under 44 points in New York Jets at Indianapolis Colts
1pt 10-11 general

Analysis

Atlanta Falcons should bounce back from a heartbreaking loss at Dallas when they face a Chicago Bears side who are fortunate to be 2-0.

While Chicago’s defence has proved efficient, they have major flaws on offence with their passing attack ranked 25th in the league. In contrast, Atlanta have averaged 443 yards per game through a tough opening two weeks and have protected quarterback Matt Ryan well.

With so many weapons on offence, the Falcons should blitz Chicago, who were the worst performing team against the spread on the road last year.

Two injury-hit offences face off in Indianapolis in what should be a low-scoring affair.

The New York Jets have managed only 30 points in their first two games and they are going up against an Indianapolis defence that is currently ranked first in the NFL. The Colts offence has not yet clicked into gear and they don’t look like putting up big numbers.
