Laver Cup preview

The curtain comes down on a dazzling tennis career on Friday as all-time great Roger Federer takes to the court for the final time in the Laver Cup at London's O2 Arena.

Federer, who has won 20 Grand Slam singles titles, was last seen at Wimbledon last year and ongoing fitness issues mean he will play just one match in the London-based team event, which pits six of Europe's best against a rest-of-the-world sextet.

The two sides will battle it out over nine singles matches and three doubles matches during the next three days at the O2.

All four previous Laver Cups have been won by Team Europe and, with the 'Big Four' of Federer, Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal and Andy Murray plus Casper Ruud and Stefanos Tsitsipas in their ranks this year, they are expected to prevail again.

Federer will play just one doubles contest alongside long-time adversary Nadal before he is replaced by Matteo Berrettini for the remainder of the tournament, and the Swiss star should call time on a glittering career with a final tournament triumph.

Team Europe are 3-10 to come out on top and it is hard to argue with those odds.

The slim title chances of Team World means little separates their players in the top points scorer markets and Australian Alex De Minaur could be worth a bet to lead their challenge.

De Minaur has a great chance to get an early point on the board on Friday against Murray, who was unimpressive for Great Britain at the recent Davis Cup.

The Aussie has been busy on the hard courts with doubles partner Cameron Norrie in the last few months and won the Atlanta Open on the same surface back in July.
