Preview

Spain arrived at Euro 2022 as outright favourites but go into their final group match against Denmark knowing a defeat would eliminate them from the tournament.

La Roja were as short as 3-1 in the antepost betting but have been pushed out to as big as 6-1 to lift the trophy after their 24-match unbeaten streak was snapped by Germany on matchday two in Group B.

It was in both boxes where Spain failed to perform in that match in Brentford, losing 2-0 despite amassing 70 per cent possession, but Jorge Vilda at least knows their fate is in their hands heading into the game with the Danes.

Spain will advance to the quarter-finals provided they avoid defeat against Denmark, who have to win at the Brentford Community Stadium to leapfrog the Spaniards into second spot behind Germany.

And fortunately for Vilda and his players, although they have been poor at the back and will be without injured defender Laia Aleixandri for this contest, their opponents have been pretty unconvincing in attack.

Denmark spurned multiple opportunities against Finland last time out, winning 1-0 but having been pretty wasteful given they had 19 shots in the game.

There were fears they could be without Chelsea star Pernille Harder for the match with Spain but the forward has shaken off a knock she picked up against the Finns and will be involved.

Even with Harder up top, though, it could be a struggle for Denmark and backing a Spain win and under 3.5 goals looks the way to go.

The other match in Group B is a dead rubber with Germany already through after a 4-0 thrashing of Denmark and the win over Spain, while Finland have been knocked out.

The Finns will want to bow out on a high note and can draw positives from their narrow loss to Denmark last time out but, even with rotation, the gulf in class between them and the Germans could be too big to mask.

Key forward Lea Schuller missed Germany's win over Spain with Covid-19 and may not be available until the quarter-finals, while Lena Oberdorf and Felicitas Rauch are suspended, so Martina Voss-Tecklenburg could be forced into a number of changes for this contest.

And while it can be risky to opt for a player bet when rotation is expected, one individual who looks pretty likely to start is forward Klara Buhl.

The 21-year-old Bayern Munich winger should not require rest like many of the old guard and has started both of the team's matches at Euro 2022, scoring the opening goal against Spain.

She also warmed up for the tournament with a hat-trick against Switzerland in Germany's 7-0 friendly win and could be a decent bet at 7-5 with bet365 to get on the scoresheet at the Stadium MK.
