Championship strugglers Cardiff have equalled a club record seven-match losing sequence which has stood since 1933 but they can avoid creating an unwanted piece of history by defeating Middlesbrough in the Welsh capital.

The Bluebirds are desperate for a turning point but it was never likely to arrive on Wednesday when they were beaten 2-0 at promotion-chasing Fulham.

However, there were positives to take from the performance in west London which was more competitive than might have been expected.

Kieffer Moore struck the Fulham woodwork before the home side forged ahead through Tom Cairney's sweet 57th-minute strike and Cardiff's shot tally (15) was the highest any visiting team has managed at Craven Cottage this season.

The Bluebirds are battling away and they might catch a break against injury-hit Boro, who are struggling on their travels.

Neil Warnock's side have lost three of their last four away games without scoring and they may experience another disappointing road trip.
