Wednesday's preview

Chris Dobey produced a fantastic display of finishing to see off Luke Humphries in the opening round of World Grand Prix and Hollywood can star again when he faces Adrian Lewis.

Dobey trailed Cool Hand Luke 2-0 in the opening set but the Bedlington battler won six legs on the bounce, hitting checkouts of 96, 136 and 138 to win the match without dropping a set. That was an impressive performance against a top-level opponent and it's one which Hollywood has been promising to deliver for some time.

There have been some positives signs for Lewis on the Pro Tour and the Stoke arrowsmith lifted a Players Championship title in the summer.

However, there have also been plenty of false dawns in the past and there are no guarantees that Jackpot will repeat the performance he produced against Jose de Sousa.

Reigning World Grand Prix champion Jonny Clayton came through a tough first-round test against the excellent Dirk van Duijvenbode and the Welshman looks a solid 5-6 to continue his defence by disposing of Dimitri van den Bergh.

The Ferret won the World Series Finals, the Premier League, the Masters and this event last season and he continues to operate at a high level.

The tournament wins haven't been as frequent this term, but the Welshman made the last four of the Masters, the Premier League and the World Series earlier this year so it's not as if his form has fallen off a cliff.

Van den Bergh has won only two matches in four appearances in this event, and although the Belgian is a top-level operator on his day, he doesn't have the consistent and reliable profile of Clayton.
