Team news

Borussia Dortmund
Erling Haaland should shake off his ankle problem in time for Tuesday's game. Jadon Sancho, Raphael Guerreiro and Gio Reyna did not travel for the Bayern Munich contest and there is uncertainty surrounding their availability.

Sevilla
Aleix Vidal is the only new absentee for the visitors.

Match preview

Borussia Dortmund lost 4-2 to Bayern Munich in Der Klassiker at the weekend but Edin Terzic's men seem to have turned a corner and can do the double over Sevilla in the Champions League.

Dortmund were on a poor run of form when they beat the Andalusians 3-2 in the first leg of the last-16 tie but executed their game plan brilliantly that night.

They saw only 34 per cent of the ball but exposed Sevilla's porous rearguard with their pace and dynamism in the final third and the Bundesliga outfit have gone from strength to strength since that victory.

They followed it with a 4-0 thrashing of rivals Schalke, a 3-0 defeat of Arminia Bielefeld and a 1-0 success over Borussia Monchengladbach in the quarter-finals of the German Cup.

Those results were also reflective of an improving defence and, although they shipped four against Bayern Munich last time out, the scoreline in the latest edition of Der Klassiker did not tell the whole story.

Erling Haaland had put Dortmund 2-0 up after only nine minutes in that contest and, although the scores were level at the break, the Black and Yellows held Bayern until the dying moments of the contest.

Poor concentration cost them on that occasion but there should be no such problem when they take on Sevilla, knowing a draw will book their place in the Champions League quarter-finals for the first time since 2017.

While Dortmund have flourished since that first leg, Sevilla seem to have lost their way.

Julen Lopetegui's men lost to Barcelona in La Liga before losing 3-0 to the same opponents in the Copa del Rey and seeing their 2-0 advantage from the first leg of that tie evaporate.

A new centre-back partnership of Karim Rekik and Sergi Gomez was then exposed in their latest league endeavour against Elche, who beat Sevilla 2-1, and they look short of confidence heading into this Champions League tie.

Norwegian wonderkid Haaland is an ever-reliable source of goals and is the Champions League's top scorer this season with eight strikes from five games so could be worth a bet at 8-11 in the anytime scorer market or 3-1 in the first goalscorer market.

But the best bet could simply be to back a Dortmund win against the flustered Spanish visitors.

Key stat

Borussia Dortmund have won four of their last five matches.
