Eintracht Frankfurt v Leipzig
Although it has taken time, Leipzig finally look as though they are making progress under Jesse Marsch and they can emphasise that point against Eintracht Frankfurt this weekend.
The initial transition from Julian Nagelsmann to Marsch in the dugout was rocky for Leipzig but three wins in their last four matches in the Bundesliga suggest they have turned a corner.
They also pushed Paris Saint-Germain close in a 3-2 defeat in the Champions League and they should have too much going forwards for toothless Frankfurt.
Oliver Glasner's hosts were defeated by lowly Bochum 2-0 last time out, leaving them hovering above the drop zone, and they have managed only one win in their opening nine assignments.
The continued absence of forward Goncalo Paciencia is doing them no favours and they are worth opposing again this weekend.
Lyon v Lens
Lyon's confidence has surely taken a hit after they were beaten 3-2 by Nice last time out despite leading 2-0 after 79 minutes.
That late capitulation magnified the niggling defensive problems holding back Les Gones and they find themselves locked in mid-table obscurity.
As for this week's opponents Lens, they have emerged as Paris Saint-Germain's closest competitors for top spot and are worth chancing in the draw no bet market.
Lens have won three of their last four games, beating Marseille, Reims and Metz, while also recording big wins over Lille and Monaco earlier in the campaign.
The calibre of their opponents does not seem to faze them - they won at home to PSG last season - and they will be eager to push on at the summit against a Lyon team missing suspended forward Tino Kadewere.
Roma v Milan
Jose Mourinho pointed out Roma's lack of squad depth following their humiliating 6-1 loss to Bodo/Glimt in the Europa Conference League this month but their first team could be overpowered by Milan this weekend.
Roma are not in the greatest form heading into this match at the Stadio Olimpico having managed only one win in their last four games and even that was against basement boys Cagliari.
They are also weakened at the back by the potential absence of Leonardo Spinazzola, who also gives plenty to their attack, and Chris Smalling.
Milan look back to their best under Stefano Pioli with nine wins and a draw from their ten assignments in Serie A this campaign.
Victories over Lazio and Atalanta and a draw with Juventus show they can push the division's big guns and they can record another big three points in the capital.
