ATP Chengdu Open preview

There are question marks over several of the key contenders in the ATP Chengdu Open and that could afford Hyeon Chung a chance to shine following his return from a long-term injury.

The Korean reached the Australian Open semi-finals in 2018 and looked a player in the ascendancy before back problems disrupted his promising career but he is still likely to win plenty of titles if he stays healthy.

Others are ahead of the 23-year-old in the market but John Isner rarely does well outside the USA while Grigor Dimitrov is not certain to reproduce the form that saw him reach the last four at the US Open.

Young guns Taylor Fritz and Denis Shapovalov are also feared but Chung should be fitter and stronger after coming through qualifying to reach the third round at Flushing Meadows.

ATP Zhuhai Championships preview

Andy Murray's return to competitive tennis continues at the inaugural ATP Zhuhai Championships but the Briton looked off the pace when contesting a low-key Challenger event in Majorca three weeks ago and it's hard to see him contending in a much stronger field.

Stefanos Tsitsipas, Gael Monfils, Borna Coric and Roberto Bautista Agut are all quoted at single-figure odds in China and are clearly the most likely winners but, at bigger prices, it could be worth backing Miomir Kecmanovic to make his ATP breakthrough.

The 20-year-old Serb has cracked the world's top 50 just nine months after registering a first match victory and there should be plenty more to come following a series of impressive wins in the North American hard-court season.

Kecmanovic made the quarter-finals in Atlanta before downing top talents Alexander Zverev and Felix Auger-Aliassime in Cincinnati and should go well from a favourable draw.
