Lingfield takes a break from the blizzard of all-weather racing for one of its popular jump meetings. There are no concerns about quicker ground at the Surrey venue, which has easier conditions for the hurdle races and chases, although the bumper will take place on the Polytrack circuit.

Today's cards

Slightly perplexing is how it gets to host a qualifier for the Hereford Mares' Chase Series, but it has brought trainers from around Britain to take on home county trainer Laura Mongan and Sussex's Gary Moore.

Final thought

Harry Whittington sends Speedy Cargo (3.20) back to Sedgefield, where the five-year-old let him down this month when a beaten favourite to spoil the Oxfordshire trainer's impressive course record, which had stood at five winners from seven runners. At least he can run in a maiden hurdle though.
