Port Soif can chart a winning course on seasonal reappearance

Credit: Patrick McCann

North: Richard Young

Port Soif (3.40 Southwell, nap)

Absent since March but goes well fresh and is unbeaten in two starts over course and distance. Capable of better this winter and fancied to go well in a weak event.

Others to follow
Sedgefield 2.20 Hope For Glory, 12.50 Promise Of Peace, 1.20 Millie The Minx, 1.50 Captain Mowbray, 2.20 Lord Of The Rock, 2.50 Tayzar, 3.20 Court Jurado
Southwell 12.10 Glasgon, 12.40 Billy Ruskin, 1.10 Cupid's Arrow, 1.40 Astraea, 2.10 French Twist, 2.40 Robeam, 3.10 Mametz Wood

Newmarket: David Milnes

Vow Of Presence (3.10 Southwell, nap)

No worldbeater but this son of Showcasing has shown enough on the Al Bahathri to suggest he is up to making a winning debut.

Others to follow
Southwell 12.10 Anna Jammeela, 12.40 Princess Harley, 2.10 Material Girl, 2.40 Sandridge Lad

Lambourn: James Burn

El Kaldoun (12.30 Lingfield, nap)

Well-regarded youngster showed promise at home last season and this looks an ideal starting spot.

Others to follow
Lingfield
1.30 Silent Steps, 2.00 Don Des Fosses, 2.30 Holbrook Park
Sedgefield 2.50 Midnight Chill, 3.20 Speedy Cargo
Southwell 12.40 Rare, 2.10 Times Past, 2.40 Kingi Compton

West Country: Tim Mitchell

Duhallow Gesture (3.00 Lingfield, nap)

Fairly useful bumper performer who ran with plenty of credit on hurdling debut at Newbury. Fancied to take the beating with this step up in distance expected to suit.

Others to follow
Lingfield
1.00 Nordic Combined, 1.30 The Boola Bee, 2.00 Ecu De La Noverie, 2.30 Diplomate De Sivola, 3.30 Evidence De Thaix

Racing Post Ratings: Steve Mason

Ar Mest (2.00 Lingfield, nap)

Looks well handicapped on the evidence of last season's course win over a shorter distance and is entitled to improve for his Sandown reappearance.

Topspeed: Dave Edwards

Diplomate Sivola (2.30 Lingfield)

Just came off second best in a ding-dong duel at Fontwell last time and despite numerous bites at the cherry should be given a chance to belatedly break his duck over fences.

Longshot: Ben Harris

Give Em A Clump (1.40 Southwell)

Continues to fall in the weights and never landed a blow last time out over 5f. However he did run a good race in defeat over this trip two starts ago. A repeat of that performance could see him go close.

Simon Crisford has won with four of his last nine (+£7.36) three-year-olds in Southwell maidens, with another three placing. Vow Of Presence can go close on his debut in the 3.10.
