The countdown to what looks a mouthwatering King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes is well and truly on, but hopefully a few winners can be found before Saturday's Ascot showdown.

Musselburgh and Wolverhampton offer the first chance on Tuesday afternoon, while Chelmsford, Southwell and Ballinrobe stage evening fixtures.

Tuesday cards

Richard Hannon runs Embour in Chelmsford's feature (6.20) and seems confident.

"He's in the form of his life and was not beaten far in a very hot contest at Ascot," the trainer said. "I'm hopeful of a big run again as he's as hard as nails."

Final thought

A few people might have written Ryan Moore off a little early as Frankie Dettori has lit up the summer. Reading our profile of Moore, that might prove foolish as he appears as driven as ever.
