Big guns underestimated Editeur Du Gite and Niall Houlihan in Clarence House
Although he had 16lb to find with Energumene on official ratings and 10lb with Edwardstone, Editeur Du Gite has a fine record going left-handed at Cheltenham and Moore was duly rewarded for supplementing him.
Paul Townend on Energumene and Tom Cannon on Edwardstone would have been delighted to see Editeur Du Gite in the field as it guaranteed a good gallop and eliminated the chances of a falsely run race.
From early on it was clear Tom was planning on stalking every move by Energumene before laying down a late challenge. Editeur Du Gite taking them along at a good gallop simplified matters and Paul had Energumene well placed behind the leader in fourth early on.
