Sandy Thomson dominates with sensational 996-1 four-timer

Saturday: Kelso
Sandy Thomson is based just eight miles from the racecourse and he was a happy man when he made the short journey home after clinching a fabulous 996-1 four-timer.
The trainer hit the target with Salvino, ridden by Bruce Lynn, and the Ryan Mania-partnered trio of Sirwilliamwallace, Stoney Rover and Pavlik.
“I came here today thinking they all had a decent chance but I would never have expected them all to win, as everything needs to go right,” said Thomson.
“The horses have been running well and it's great that everything has worked out so well today.”
Sirwilliamwallace was the highlight of the four-timer, hitting the front late and staying on strongly to defeat Dalyotin by one length in the 2m5½f handicap chase.
“He’s had a few problems but he was back on his last winning mark and the key was probably bringing him back in trip,” said Thomson.
Salvino finally got his head in front after several near misses, proving one and a half lengths too good for Gaillimh A Star in the 2m6½f novices’ hurdle.
Thomson added: “It was a messy as they didn't go a great pace and Bruce did well to take it up approaching the last."
Stoney Rover looked a likely winner of the 3m2f handicap hurdle as the race unfolded but Mania was forced to dig deep late on to hold off the favourite Brandy McQueen by half a length.
Mania was seen to good effect again forcing Pavlik ahead close home in the 2m5f handicap hurdle.
