Our experts disagree over Nell Gwyn winner Cachet's 1,000 Guineas claims
Cachet has been cut to as short as 16-1 for the 1,000 Guineas after her Nell Gwyn win. Three Racing Post experts give their view on her Classic credentials

'20-1 looks generous'
I took a bit of 50-1 about her for the 1,000 Guineas before the Nell Gwyn and the general 20-1 reassessment looks a little generous to me. Cachet showed way more than any of her sire’s first crop as a juvenile and on this evidence she has improved again after coming to life at the end of last season.
She had the race in safe keeping a long way from home, and while she will need to step forward to shake up the likes of Inspiral, Tenebrism and Discoveries in the Guineas, her pedigree points towards progress with age and experience.

'Third excellent effort on the Rowley Mile'
The form of last season’s Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies’ Turf had already been advertised by runner-up Malavath in the Prix Imprudence at Deauville last week and fourth-placed Cachet gave the race another boost. She was kept very busy last season and looks to have taken another step forward over the winter, reversing the Rockfel Stakes form with Hello You.
This was her third excellent effort on the Rowley Mile and there is every reason to target a return for the Qipco 1,000 Guineas. It is not hard to imagine the daughter of Aclaim travelling as well as any through the first three-quarters of the race, granted her preferred fast ground.

'Cachet could have a mountain to climb'
This year's 1,000 Guineas looks quite open but Cachet wouldn't be at the top of my list. No horse has won the Nell Gwyn and Guineas since Speciosa in 2006 and I have reservations about the form as I suspect a few in behind might not have trained on. She's also by an unproven sire in Aclaim and will have another furlong to contend with at the end of the month.
She was no match for Inspiral, who is by Frankel and should improve from two to three, in the Fillies' Mile and Homeless Songs (preferred), Tuesday and Discoveries bring high-class form from Ireland. Add in Malavath, Zellie and Rosacea from France and Cachet could have a mountain to climb.
