'It's been a great few weeks' - Quinlan and Williams team up for Chepstow double
Shane Quinlan continued his fruitful association with Venetia Williams as they combined to land a 65-1 double on the card.
Farinet took care of nine rivals with an impressive front-running display in the Welsh Grand National trial as Quinlan made it five wins from his last seven rides for Williams.
Prior to that victory, Enzo D’Airy made his first start in 653 days and held off well-backed favourite Dalamoi by half a length in the 2m3½f handicap chase.
Williams, speaking from Sandown, said: "It’s been a great few weeks for Shane on our horses and long may it continue. He’s been riding out for me regularly over the past 12 months. He has his own small yard and some of our horses are there.
"Our two horses never saw another runner in their races and Shane gave them both very good rides."
Farinet has not been entered for the Welsh National and Williams, who registered a 5,576-1 four-timer across the afternoon, added: "We'll be looking at some decent three-mile handicaps for him now.
"He's won over two and a half miles, but the ground was very soft that day and he’s better at three miles."
On seeing Enzo D’Airy make a successful return following a long layoff, Williams said: "He’s been such a difficult horse to train and I’m delighted for his owner Moira Hamlin, who has been so patient."
Trebled up
Paul Nicholls and Lorcan Williams were another trainer-jockey combination to enjoy a successful afternoon as they landed a treble.
Both Makin'yourmindup and Knowsley Road won the novice hurdles on the card, while Marvellous Mick scored in the 2m bumper.
