Chris Hayes in unstoppable form with 344-1 four-timer from five rides

Chris Hayes had an afternoon to remember as he pulled off a 344-1 four-timer from just five rides on the card.

Gobi Star got the ball rolling for the multiple Classic-winning jockey in the 5f maiden, going one better than his nose defeat over the same course and distance this month.

It proved a decent piece of placing from trainer Eddie Lynam to score with the 67-rated performer, who had previously been 0-8 and returned as 9-4 favourite.

Hayes's easiest winner came in the 5f nursery aboard All In The Hips, a ready scorer for trainer Jack Davison. The improving filly was sent off 100-30 after solid market support.

A smart display from the Noel Meade-trained Encosta completed a hat-trick for the 35-year-old in the 7f fillies' maiden, before Gegenpressing, representing Eddie and Patrick Harty, gained an overdue success in the 7f handicap at 6-1.

Speaking on Racing TV, a delighted Hayes said: "Gegenpressing is a bit of a monkey. There was a strong pace on and I slotted him in to get cover because I thought they'd come back to me. I got there sooner than ideal, but he toughed it out well."

Hayes's bid for a five-timer came up just short when Forgetmenotblue, his final mount, was fifth in the first division of the 1m2½f handicap.
