Bargain buy Milano survives inquiry to score for Bewleys
George Bewley saddled his third winner since moving back to Cumbria as Classical Milano took the 2m7½f maiden hurdle under the trainer's son Jonathon.
The 22-1 shot, owned by the trainer's daughter Victoria, Carolyn Todd and John Gibson, had to survive a stewards' enquiry having drifted right in the closing stages, with Jonathon Bewley's whip twice striking the neck runner-up Victoria Says across the head.
George, originally from West Cumbria, moved to Colby near Appleby on March 1, from Bonchester Bridge in the Borders, and Classical Milano was winning on his third start for the yard.
