Aintree-bound Rene's Girl lands valuable Listed prize for absent connections

Absence makes the heart grow fonder, they say, but in the case of absent owners Andy & Sharon Measham, absence has also done wonders for their bank balance, as well as their fondness for Rene’s Girl.

Rene’s Girl won the most valuable mares’ chase ever staged in this country, a whopping £75,000 contest in which the first prize of £32,685 went to the Meashams, who are away holidaying.

Away too was trainer Dan Skelton, attending an awards ceremony in London, but Rene’s Girl completed a double for the Alcester-based trainer by seeing off the late challenge from Happy Diva after the last.
