'The dream is black type' - Criollo camp not getting carried away despite strike
Wednesday: Lingfield
Enable might be the most famous example of a horse using the all-weather as a springboard to Classic glory, but connections of Criollo, who has the pedigree to be smart and won the fillies' novice stakes in impressive fashion, are not getting carried away.
By top sire Dark Angel, the 10-11 winner is out of La Rioja, a Group 3 winner for Qatar Racing Limited, in whose maroon silks Criollo also runs. She was third on her debut at Wolverhampton this month and landed the odds under Tom Marquand.
"She's won and we'll talk to the trainer [William Haggas] to see what his plans are going forward," said David Redvers, speaking on behalf of the successful owners.
"She's a nice filly and with one who is that well-bred you'd dream of getting black type at some point."
Martini keeps Ghiani streak going
Marco Ghiani, the champion apprentice last year, has wasted little time making his mark in 2022 and Dirty Martini, who was too good for her rivals in the 5f maiden, was his fifth winner from his last nine mounts.
Dwyer on target despite the blues
Enthusiastic Everton fan Martin Dwyer may not have had much to shout about on the terraces of late, but he was able to enjoy a winner when Impeach kept on well in the 6f handicap.
