'Special achievement' - first winner for Harriet Brown as 40-1 Trump shocks
Tuesday: Exeter
Trainer Harriet Brown hailed her first career winner under rules as a "big relief" after she brought up the landmark with Trump Lady's shock wide-margin victory in the 2m2½f handicap hurdle.
Brown, who trains near Sturminster, Dorset, brought up the achievement at the 26th attempt with the mare, owned by Syd Hosie under his Sherborne Utilities Ltd banner, who defied her 40-1 odds to score by eight and a half lengths from 66-1 chance Show On The Road.
"It's a special achievement and almost a big relief in a way, especially with her, as she's a mare we really like," she said.
"I was a little bit surprised, but she shows us plenty working at home and that's how I expect her to run. It depends what mood she turns up in, but she's proper gutsy."
Brown has 16 horses in training under rules as well as looking after 17 of Hosie's horses at a nearby yard, with new stable star Lieutenant Rocco set to make his return in the Peter Marsh Chase on Saturday or Fleur De Lys Chase at Lingfield a day later.
She added: "It's hectic as we've got horses everywhere at the moment, but days like today make it all worthwhile. We've got a busy week ahead, so it's nice to start it with a bang."
Hot run for Honeyball
Anthony Honeyball made it six winners from his last 16 runners with a double when Serious Charge won the 2m½f maiden hurdle before Firestream landed the 2m½f bumper.
