Peltwell had a productive trip to the north-east, following up her win at Newcastle on Tuesday with another success to take her tally to four victories in 29 days.

Trained near Bath by Neil Mulholland, the prolific mare completed her March four-timer in the 2m handicap hurdle, with 5lb claimer Shane Quinlan deployed to offset the 7lb penalty from the day before.

In winning her third race in nine days off a mark of 96, Peltwell is set for a big hike in the handicap, having started her winning run on 82.

"Once she got to the top of the hill, she was always going forward and when I gave her a squeeze she was gone," Quinlan told Sky Sports Racing.

"She's fairly tough to make the long trip up here and to do two in two days and four for the month. Neil has done a good job placing her and he had it in the back of his mind to come here as long as she ran well yesterday."

More joy for Hamiltons

Ann and Ian Hamilton recorded an 11th victory of their best season when Bavington Bob won the 2m4f handicap hurdle.

The six-year-old added to his success at Carlisle 20 days earlier under Brian Hughes, who now leads Harry Skelton by one in the jockeys' championship.

Pair strike with Real Armani

Trainer Jane Walton and jockey Ross Chapman proved to be a combination to follow at Hexham again after teaming up with Real Armani.

The pair enhanced their strike-rate when joining forces at the course in the last five seasons to 50 per cent (5-10) following the nine-year-old's win in the 3m handicap chase.

Chapman's ride drew the attention of the stewards and he was suspended for two days for careless riding.
