More joy for Johnny Murtagh as Sonnyboyliston lands feature

Johnny Murtagh: has strong claims in the Concorde Stakes

Johnny Murtagh had thousands of terrific days as a rider, but he can't have had too many better ones than this as a trainer.

An hour after Create Belief stormed to success in the Sandringham, handing Murtagh his first Royal Ascot winner, Sonnyboyliston won the feature Martin Molony Stakes at Limerick – a Listed race named after another legendary jockey.

You could certainly understand why Sonnyboyliston was sent off such a short-priced favourite, given he had chased home Japan and Trueshan in the Ormonde Stakes at Chester on his most recent start, and the 6-5 shot surged clear of Sunchart when it mattered for a one and a half length victory under Shane Kelly.

The Luke Comer-trained Questionare was 50-1 but didn't run like a hopeless outsider and was only a further half-a-length back in third.

Let's have a party

Let's bumped into the aforementioned Create Belief on her most recent start in a Curragh handicap, form that was well and truly franked at Royal Ascot, and she swept down the outsider to land the Adare Fillies Race under Niall McCullagh.

The 13-2 shot, trained by Ken Condon, showed a smart turn of foot to gun down joint-favourite Eylara, then displayed determination to fend off the late surge of Neptune Rock by half-a-length.

More joy for Joseph

Joseph O'Brien sent out his 16th winner in the last fortnight when Snapius landed the 6½f maiden under Mikey Sheehy at odds of 9-2.
