Friday: Doncaster

Rossa Ryan has faced tough challenges in recent weeks, but hopes his difficult spell is behind him after landing an impressive 1,024-1 treble.

The jockey, who was out of luck from his 18 rides across Royal Ascot week, first struck on 40-1 shot Forca Timao, who got the better of odds-on favourite Courageous Knight in the 7f novice.

Ryan then steered Master Of Combat to success in the mile handicap before completing his treble with Mugader in the 1m6½f handicap – which secured a double for trainer Richard Hannon.

"It has been a hard couple of weeks," said Ryan. "I have been hitting the crossbar with a lot of horses, but I have a lot to be excited about with runners in the right races.

"Even if you do question yourself, you can’t be doing much wrong when you have horses like today.

"It was a matter of having some luck because I have been a bit unlucky, but the three horses today all look like they’ll improve as the year goes on."

Ryan, who rides Raadobarg and Crispy Cat at the Curragh on Saturday, added: "Slowly but surely I will have more rides in this game with bigger owners and trainers, but to be able to go to Doncaster and have a treble is amazing."

Double Danny

Daniel Muscutt continued his fine campaign with a double, headlined by Nietzsche's Star's victory in the feature mile handicap after Good Earth had triumphed in the opening 6f handicap.

The jockey is operating at a career-best strike-rate of 17 per cent in 2022 but fell just short in his treble pursuit as he was outdone by Mugader when riding favourite Nova Legend.
