200 not out for King Power as owners reach landmark with emotional winner

King Power Racing picked up their 200th winner as owners with a poignant victory for Possible Man, who got the verdict in a tight finish to the feature 1m2f handicap.

The three-year-old is a homebred and was born on King Power founder and late Leicester City chairman Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha’s birthday. The emotional landmark was reached with a short-head victory under David Probert.

King Power’s racing manager Alastair Donald said: “It's a lovely story. They're a close fourth in the owners' table and doing so well to compete with the outfits with a lot more horses. It's wonderful.”

The in-form Probert picked up a 13th winner this month and Donald added: "David obviously rides a lot for Andrew [Balding, trainer] and he has the most of King Power's horses so we're always happy to call on him. He gave it a great ride."

The owners quickly landed their 201st and 202nd winners with Nine Tales obliging at Haydock before Greatgadian followed in back at Nottingham.

Cox flying with juveniles

Clive Cox continued his recent hot streak at Nottingham as Wings Of War impressively got off the mark in the 6f maiden to maintain the trainer's 36 per cent strike-rate at the track this year.

Cox enjoyed an across-the-card juvenile double as Caturra took the Rose Bowl Stakes at Newbury.

Larson hits the net

Former non-league footballer Frederick Larson is only eight months into his riding career but is already making it pay and he enjoyed his seventh winner of the year aboard the Mick Appleby-trained Case Key in the 6f handicap.
