Henry de Bromhead, who has enjoyed spectacular success in Britain this year with the likes of Minella Indo, Minella Times, Honeysuckle, Put The Kettle On, Bob Olinger and Quilixios, bids to bring the curtain down on a quite amazing season when he runs Plan Of Attack in the bet365 Gold Cup.

While there are still rich pickings up for grabs for both him and Rachael Blackmore at Punchestown next week, this is their final chance to plunder more British prize-money and big-race glory.

Although not instantly recognisable as one of the De Bromhead stable stars, the eight-year-old Plan Of Attack, who is twice a winner on good ground, could well start favourite for this valuable prize with the trainer’s Cheltenham and Aintree exploits still fresh in the memory.

Plan Of Attack appeared to be travelling strongly when falling three out in the Fulke Walwyn Kim Muir Challenge Cup at the Cheltenham Festival and a mark of 138 may well underestimate him.

De Bromhead said: "He seemed to be going well before he came down in the Kim Muir and I know Rachael was always very keen to go over and ride him. She seems keen on his chances."

Caroline Bailey, trainer of Crosspark
He tries so hard and has done so all season. He runs well at Sandown and goes there in great form. I don't think he'll mind the ground – it was good ground when he was narrowly beaten at Chepstow at the beginning of the season and also when he finished second in the Scottish National a couple of years ago. It shouldn't be a problem.

Alan King, trainer of Potterman
We've had this race in mind for Potterman since the Ladbrokes Trophy at Newbury in November. He has always been a good-ground horse and has enjoyed a nice break since. Although he was denied a prep race when the ground at Taunton dried up too much, he has been in good form and I'd be hopeful he can be competitive.

Paul Nicholls, trainer of Enrilo
He's coming here off the back of a win in a novice handicap at Newbury and we think this race will suit him. He's not had a lot of racing. How he'll cope in a larger field is an unknown, but he goes there with a leading chance.

Alex Hales, trainer of Smooth Stepper
He's been aimed at this race all season, but I was hoping for softer ground. I'll have to walk the course in the morning before making a final decision on his participation. He ran very well at Sandown on good ground in November when they had heavily watered the back straight and I suppose there's a chance that as he gets older he might appreciate better ground. We'll have to see. He's come out of his Carlisle soft-ground win very well.

Neil Mulholland, trainer of The Young Master and Doing Fine
They're both in good form and have both done well round Sandown during their careers. They're both getting on in years now but still have plenty of ability and it makes sense to go back to a place where they've enjoyed success.

I was so disappointed with him at Uttoxeter – I thought he'd run a really big race. Maybe he lost a bit of interest after getting too far back. All the other horses were heaving when they got back – mine wasn't even blowing. Once again he's in serious order and I think we can put a line through Uttoxeter. You go through the rest of his form – whether it's over hurdles or fences – and it's very good. I'll be gutted if he's not bang there. I'm really excited.

Gary Moore, trainer of Larry
He'll only run if the ground is good. I was quite happy with his first run back at Chepstow following a long absence. He's in a good place, but it's a tough race.
