ITV Racing tips: one key runner from each of the 11 races on ITV this Saturday
1.45 York
John Smith's Racing Handicap, 1m
David O'Meara has taken this race three times in the last eight years and is set to be represented by three runners in this year's edition, with the first choice being the recent Haydock winner Young Fire. Jump The Gun and Chichester are notable rivals for Scottish trainers Iain Jardine and Keith Dalgleish.
SPOTLIGHT TIP:Fame And Acclaim
Fast ground may not have been ideal for Fame And Acclaim in the Royal Hunt Cup and he's a big player on his earlier form.
Bedford Lodge Hotel & Spa Fillies' Handicap, 7f
This contest has been won by several subsequent Group winners in the past and the most likely candidate to go on to bigger things this year could be Riknnah, who aims for a four-timer following her recent course-and-distance strike. The Chris Wall-trained Kingmania is similarly searching for her fourth consecutive victory and remains unbeaten this season.
SPOTLIGHT TIP: Kingmania
First choice is Kingmania, who remains unbeaten in handicaps. Riknnah is second choice, narrowly ahead of Samoot.
John Smith's Silver Cup, 1m6f, Group 3
Hukum avoided a clash with fellow Shadwell-owned Al Aasy at Newmarket earlier this week and instead takes in this contest over a longer trip, having finished third in the Hardwicke Stakes at Royal Ascot last month.
Last year's Ebor winner Fujaira Prince returns to the scene of his greatest performance for his seasonal bow after finishing in the places in the Irish St Leger and Long Distance Cup last season.
SPOTLIGHT TIP: Quickthorn
Fujaira Prince is preferred to Hukum among the leading form contenders but Quickthorn can find further improvement.
There could be a class horse lurking in the wings in the shape of Royal Fleet, who took his record to 2-2 when an easy winner at Yarmouth in April. He will be the strong favourite to make it a hat-trick. Kaheall and Latest Generation are more exposed but are likely to provide stern opposition.
SPOTLIGHT TIP: Qaader
Royal Fleet has a fair bit of potential but Qaader's form has a solid look to it and he could be a tough nut to crack.
Betfred Summer Mile, 1m, Group 2
Plenty of classy performers are set to clash in a top-class renewal, with Queen Anne Stakes third Sir Busker aiming to notch a first success since winning the Silver Royal Hunt Cup at last year's royal meeting. Top Rank was sixth in the Queen Anne and is set to oppose again, while Tilsit was beaten by just a head in the Prix d'Ispahan on his latest start.
SPOTLIGHT TIP: Tilsit
The least exposed candidate is probably Tilsit and he gets the verdict after an excellent second in a Group 1 at Longchamp last time.
bet365 Superlative Stakes, 7f, Group 2
Dhabab was arguably one of the unluckiest losers at the royal meeting when a fast-finishing sixth in the Coventry Stakes and now steps up in trip as he attempts to provide John and Thady Gosden with their first win in this race. The unbeaten Native Trail and Great Max, who finished third in the Chesham Stakes, provide stiff opposition.
SPOTLIGHT TIP: Native Trail
Dhabab and Great Max are big players on form but Native Trail has major potential and gets the vote.
Significantly provided a landmark moment for Clifford Lee as the jockey's first Royal Ascot winner in the Palace Of Holyroodhouse Stakes last month and is back over the same course and distance for his latest assignment. Hurricane Ivor, who was subject to the controversial photo-finish at Sandown last week, is back for more, as is 2017 winner Danzeno.
SPOTLIGHT TIP: Tis Marvellous
Narrow preference is for course specialist Tis Marvellous who is now 2lb lower than when winning this race in 2019.
A typically open and highly competitive edition features the rapidly progressive Ametist, who arrives on a five-timer having won over course and distance last month. Britannia Stakes hero Perotto seeks another red-letter day, while last year's winner Motakhayyel bids to repeat the feat.
SPOTLIGHT TIP: Perotto
Ametist isn't taken on lightly but there could be even more to come from Perotto back at 7f and he can complete the hat-trick.
Trainer Sir Michael Stoute and owner Saeed Suhail teamed up to win this historic handicap with Ballet Concerto in 2017 and are responsible for this year's expected hot favourite Astro King, who was second in the Royal Hunt Cup last time.
Course-and-distance winner Surrey Pride bids for another big York victory for Joe Tuite, while Northumberland Plate winner Nicholas T drops significantly in trip.
SPOTLIGHT TIP: Nicholas T
Northumberland Plate winner Nicholas T can land a big-race double. Dark Pine is second choice ahead of Astro King.
One of the deepest renewals of Newmarket's summer showpiece in living memory and few can split the top protagonists at the head of the betting. Oxted bids to become the first back-to-back winner of the race since Right Boy in 1958 and 1959, but faces a formidable battle for his crown from Starman, Dragon Symbol and Rohaan.
SPOTLIGHT TIP: Starman
Last year's winner Oxted has a leading chance on ratings but he's up against several highly progressive types, notably Starman.
John Smith's City Walls Stakes, 5f, Listed
The north's best 5f sprinters clash in this intriguing affair, with top filly Winter Power set to take on winning machine Dakota Gold, who makes his return after a layoff. Last season's Nunthorpe second and third, Que Amoro and Moss Gill, are back in action on the Knavesmire, as well as popular veteran El Astronaute.
SPOTLIGHT TIP: Moss Gill
A cracking renewal. Preference is for Moss Gill, who won this last year. Winter Power is second choice ahead of Que Amoro.
