'I expect a big run from her' - broadcaster Oli Bell fancies one at Sandown
Trainer David Pipe also joins our panel of weekend experts
The Imperial Cup is the feature at Sandown. Who wins?
Oli Bell, broadcaster In the last 30 years only five horses have carried 11st or more to victory, so I’m looking towards the bottom end of the weights with Natural History and Langer Dan being the obvious ones. My preference would be for Natural History. He got a massive hike up the weights for winning last time, but he did it in the style of a horse with a lot more to offer.
Tom Collins, tipsterNatural History is the handicap ‘good thing’ despite a 16lb rise for his Plumpton victory, but you have to look for a price in a competitive race like the Imperial Cup and I’ve fancied Malaya for this race all year. She had the perfect prep at Ascot last month (travelled well), a strong gallop will be perfect for her and she’s running off 2lb lower than when winning this in 2019.
Jamie Hart, Tote There’s a Trifecta rollover of £12k+ going onto this race, so I’m looking for three for my perm. My strongest fancy is One True King. Despite being a novice, he has good experience but could yet have plenty of juice in his mark of 131, especially back at 2m. Natural History is impossible to leave out of the three and Hang In There completes the perm.
