2022 Cazoo Oaks pinstickers' guide: quotes and ratings for every horse

A classy field of 11 go to post for one of Flat racing's most important races, but who will come out on top? Read our runner-by-runner guide featuring top trainer quotes and star ratings for the big race live on ITV at 4.30 on Friday.

4.30 Epsom Friday: Cazoo Oaks card and betting

1 Concert Hall

Star rating: ****

Has a brilliant Epsom pedigree and trip should be right up her street.

Trainer Aidan O'Brien:"We dropped her back to a mile in the Irish 1,000 Guineas last time and she was coming home well. She got a mile and a quarter at Navan on her first start of the season. You never know about further until you step up, but we're hoping she runs well."

2 Emily Upjohn

Star rating: *****

Might not be Enable (yet), but the one they all have to beat.

Joint-trainer John Gosden:"She has pleased us in her races, including her one run last year. We took her to Epsom the other day as she is a filly who is light on experience. We feel she has been somewhat overhyped and her odds display this. She's trained well, but we have plenty of respect for the opposition. We hope the ground dries up a bit before the race as she wouldn't want it too testing."

3 Kawida

Star rating: **

Claims to being a lively outsider but could run well and be only fifth or sixth.

Trainer Ed Walker:"I think she's overpriced. We've met With The Moonlight twice and beaten her twice, yet she's 11-1 and we're 66-1. Our filly relaxes and I'm confident she'll stay. I believe there's a lot more to come and think you'll see a different horse to the one who ran in the Prix Cleopatre on her first run of the season."

4 Moon De Vega

Star rating: **

Excuses at Chester last time and trainer has previous when it comes to Oaks upsets, saddling 33-1 and 20-1 winners.

Trainer Ralph Beckett:"Her prep has gone well. She is a well-balanced filly who could be suited by the track; whether she's good enough is the question."

5 Nashwa

Star rating: ****

Stamina doubts may exist but she is no rag second string for the Gosden outfit.

Joint-trainer John Gosden:"She had one run last year and has won in good style this year, and has strengthened and developed through the spring. We won't know whether she'll get the trip until the day, but we've been happy with her preparation."

6 Rogue Millennium

Star rating: ***

Victory would be a real rags-to-riches tale and this 35,000gns buy has barely put a hoof wrong.

Trainer Tom Clover:"I think she's come forward from Lingfield and I'm looking forward to seeing her on slightly easier ground as I don't think she loved it that quick last time. She's got a lovely draw in seven, will stay well and finds for pressure. She's got a chance of running a big race."

7 The Algarve

Star rating: **

Boasts a wonderful pedigree and is trained by a genius, so hard to completely dismiss for all she appears up against it.

Trainer Aidan O'Brien:"She was just ready to start when she went to York last time. Everything has gone well with her since."

8 Thoughts Of June

Star rating: ***

Cheshire Oaks win was boosted recently and more than capable of making the frame.

Trainer Aidan O'Brien:"We were delighted with her on her first run of the season at Leopardstown and she came forward from that at Chester. It was nice to see Above The Curve win at the weekend in France after finishing second to this filly."

9 Tranquil Lady

Star rating: ***

Plenty in her favour and eyecatching that jockey Tom Marquand was snapped up at an early stage.

Trainer Joseph O'Brien:"We're happy with her draw in three. Her preparation has gone well and we're looking forward to seeing how she gets on. It was good to see her win as she did at Naas. We had been a bit disappointed with her previous run at Navan, but she was good last time."

10 Tuesday

Star rating: ****

Placed in the 1,000 Guineas and Irish version, she is following the path of brilliant big sister Minding, who took in those races before landing the Oaks.

Trainer Aidan O'Brien:"She had a lovely run in the 1,000 Guineas, and ran well again at the Curragh in the Irish 1,000 Guineas. She's never gone further than a mile but we always felt she would stay further. It's not long since her last start so she hasn't done much, but she seems in good form."

11 With The Moonlight

Star rating: ***

Represents all-conquering connections and won handsomely at Newmarket a month ago. Has claims if staying.

Trainer Charlie Appleby:"She's come forward since her win at Newmarket and we've been delighted with her preparation. We are going into the unknown stepping up to a mile and a half, although all the signs have indicated this distance should be within her compass. Any more rain wouldn't be a positive, but she won't look out of place and, if she stays, we feel she is going to be a player."
