Sir Henry Cecil might be best known for Frankel, but he won the Oaks eight times in his legendary training career and nobody was better at guiding fillies to the top.
Since Cecil’s death nine years ago, John Gosden has become the main man in Newmarket and there are similarities between himself and Cecil in the fillies’ division too. Gosden has won the big British Oaks trial, the Musidora Stakes, six times since 2010 and the Oaks itself three times. However, quite remarkably, the nine wins were delivered by nine different fillies.
