'He's still in top form and he can win again' - last week's horses to follow
With our expert race readers watching – and writing a descriptive in-running comment for – every horse who runs in Britain and Ireland, there are three different categories used to denote those who are most appealing with the future in mind.
Members' Club Ultimate subscribers can add the names of the horses mentioned to their Racing Post Horse Tracker and will then receive email alerts when they are entered or declared again.
On their next start, the horses will be flagged in Signposts, which can be found in the Racing Post newspaper or online as part of Members' Club on raceday.
Non-members can sign up here to get the tracker, race replays and in-depth race analysis, as well as exclusive content from our team of tipsters and writers.
Did well in the circumstances
Vega Sicilia
Second, Lingfield, January 27
Was a warm favourite but he wasn't well placed as things panned out, forced wide in the home turn and unable to peg back the winner who had enjoyed an easy lead. He's still in top form and he can win again, granted a more thorough test of stamina.
Abbey's Dream
Second, Lingfield, January 28
Making her handicap debut after getting off the mark in a Newcastle maiden, found herself out the back in a steadily run race after a poor start. Despite every assistance from the saddle, she could never get on terms with the winner and there should be another day.
Desert Boots
Third, Lingfield, January 28
Tried in blinkers, deserves plenty of credit as he did the best of those who tried to come from behind so this performance can be marked up. Now 3lb below his last winning mark, he is one to keep an eye on.
Eyecatcher
Intergalacticat
Sixth, Southwell, January 24
Faced an impossible task from the back of the field given the way the race was run, and didn't have a hard race while staying on against the unfavoured far rail. He caught the eye with handicaps in mind. The stewards held an inquiry into the running and riding of the colt and noted the jockey's explanations. The vet reported that the colt had lost his left-fore shoe and was slightly lame.
Where's Hector Third, Catterick, January 25
Sported a hood on this chasing debut and didn't look a natural under early restraint. Indeed, he seemed a spent force leaving the back straight. However, the further he went the more he found and he motored home to grab third. The six-year-old had some fair novice hurdle form last year and this is surely a run he builds on.
Hello Arthur
Sixth, Kempton, January 25
Cost 9,000gns as a foal but 38,000gns as a yearling, is the first foal of a mile AW winner. He faced a tough task from the back of the field given the way the race was run, and didn't have a hard time of things at all in the straight. He'll be one to keep in mind when he gets into handicaps.
Engelbert
Fifth, Newcastle, January 26
Given wind surgery and gelded since his last start in September, was a big eyecatcher on his fourth start/AW debut. The rider's explanations were noted at the running and riding inquiry and he's one to keep a close eye on in handicaps.
Imperiousity
Third, Lingfield, January 27
In a hood for his handicap debut, shaped as if comfortably ahead of his opening mark back from a four-month absence. Having missed the break, he was left with plenty to do before finishing to good effect, and he'll be one to look out for back up in trip.
Lost In Time
Fourth, Lingfield, January 28
Tried in a new headgear combination, was a springer in the market having plummeted down the weights. He was unfortunate not to go even closer as, having travelled strongly off the pace, he was staying on strongly when squeezed out late. He is one to watch out for.

Promising
Front View
Seventh, Cheltenham, January 28
Has been switched from Joseph O'Brien to Jonjo O'Neill since his last run two years ago, ran a nice race and looks one to keep a close eye on.
