Ballyhill continues to climb the ladder and can remain competitive

It’s always good to start a new year at Cheltenham. There was an amazing crowd which provided a fantastic atmosphere. I didn’t ride a winner from my four mounts, but was really pleased with the way Ballyhill performed in the Grade 3 handicap chase.

The handicapper took no chances with Ballyhill following his win at Aintree last month, and hiked him up 10lb to a career-high mark of 144.

He bumped into one in the shape of Aso, but ran well to finish third and should continue to prove competitive in similar races.
