It will be effectively a year this weekend since what many described as the race of 2019 took place at Ascot, as Enable held off Crystal Ocean by a neck in the King George.

It was a tremendous spectacle, albeit a bit more Kauto Star-Exotic Dancer than Kauto Star-Imperial Commander. Which is to say that while it was close, the result was never really in doubt. That only served to make the reaction to the following week's ratings even more histrionic than usual.
