It's been absolutely fantastic to have racing back since June 1 – but something is missing.

Arena Racing Company, the owner of Brighton, announced in May that it would not pursue fixtures for the track until September owing to storm damage which occurred there during the spring.

Brighton has always been by far my most profitable Flat track. Back in the 1980s and early 1990s, when the lack of a watering system often produced ground officially described as firm or hard, it became apparent that front-runners or those who lay close to the pace held a considerable advantage over those who were ridden from behind.
