Enable was among 22 runners to stand their ground after the first forfeit stage for the Qatar Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe (4.00) on Sunday.

The six-year-old will once bidding for a historic third victory at Longchamp after being agonisingly denied last year. She has overhauled Love as favourite due to softening ground at the track.

Heavy rain leaves Longchamp 'very soft' with more to come ahead of Arc

Enable is joined in the provisional field by stablemates Stradivarius, runner-up in the Prix Foy last time, and Logician, who won at Doncaster on his reappearance this month and holds an entry in the Tote-sponsored Cumberland Lodge Stakes (2.30) on Saturday.

In addition to Love, trainer Aidan O'Brien could also be represented by Japan, Mogul and runaway Irish Derby winner Sovereign, as well as Serpentine, who would need to be supplemented for €72,000.

Joseph O'Brien has five possible runners, with Crossfirehurricane, Buckhurst, Thames River, Degraves and New York Girl in contention.

Magical and Ghaiyyath, who finished first and second when battling it out in the Irish Champion Stakes, were not among those left in.

Arc ten-year trends

Smallest field 12 (2019)
Largest field 20 (2014)
Shortest-priced winner 10-11 (Enable, 2017)
Longest-priced winner 33-1 (Solemia, 2012)

The French challenge is headed by Raabihah, second in the Prix Vermeille for Jean-Claude Rouget, and Sottsass, who was third in last year's Arc and finished fourth in the Irish Champion Stakes.

Andre Fabre, who trained last year's winner Waldgeist, could be represented by Persian King, winner of the Prix du Moulin last time.

The second round of forfeits will take place on Tuesday, with the supplementary stage a day later, while the final declarations and the draw for the race will be made on Thursday.
