Uncertainty over rainfall ahead of day two

There was uncertainty last night over the amount of rainfall expected at Goodwood this morning though clerk of the course Seamus Buckley is expecting the official going to remain the same for the start of racing today.

Course officials were watering the outer bend, where Arch Villain slipped in yesterday's 1m6f handicap, as well as the start of the mile course to the lower bend last night to ensure safe ground again on day two.

Buckley said yesterday: “I’ve had no complaints from the jockeys today, who felt it was good, fast Flat racing ground though I was a bit disappointed with the horse that slipped on the outer bend but these things happen and luckily there was no injury caused.
