Simcock looking for Lightning Spear to be a formidable weapon

Lightning Spear is the shortest price of the older horses in the Qatar Sussex Stakes race and, while trainer David Simcock is worried about the prospect of giving 8lb to four classy individuals, he is nonetheless excited about running the Queen Anne third.
"I was delighted with his run at Ascot and he should be suited by the better ground," he said. "Giving 8lb to the three-year-olds is tough, but he's in extremely good order and I'm really looking forward to running him."
