Ron Harris carrying Australian hopes in Richmond Stakes with Don't Stop Dancing

The Ashes are just around the corner, and while the cricketing battle begins at Edgbaston next Thursday, there will be a smaller scale Australian invasion at another British sporting venue the same day when Don't Stop Dancing runs in the Qatar Richmond Stakes.

Trained by Ron Harris, the juvenile sprung a 40-1 surprise at Chepstow on his second start, and will now be pitched straight into Group 2 company.

Don't Stop Dancing is owned by John McCoy, and the Australian will be in attendance along with some friends, as Harris explained.

"The owner is picking up a load of friends from the airport on Wednesday and they'll all be there on Thursday so hopefully they'll have a good day," he said.

On bare form Don't Stop Dancing will need to improve from his Chepstow victory, but Harris believes the son of Anjaal is worth his place in the line-up.

"I've looked at his times and sectionals and they're not far off what you need for something like the Richmond," Harris added. "He only won by a neck at Chepstow, but he was idling in front.

"He's only run twice so is open to improvement, like a lot of them. I think he deserves to have a crack at a race like this."

David Probert was aboard Don't Stop Dancing at Chepstow, but has already been booked for Symbolize in the race by boss Andrew Balding. Harris will look to use the best jockey available in Probert's absence.

A total of 17 juveniles were entered for the Richmond on Friday, including Guildsman and Golden Horde, who finished third and fifth respectively in the Coventry Stakes at Royal Ascot.

Dual 1,000 Guineas winner Hermosa has been made favourite for the Qatar Nassau Stakes, heading Friday's 13 entries for the Group 1 next Thursday alongside Mehdaayih, Maqsad, Channel and Sun Maiden.

The Gordon Stakes could lead to a shake-up in the William Hill St Leger market as ten of the 14 entries remain involved in the last Classic of the season.

O'Brien again has four possibles in the 1m4f Group 3 and his Constantinople heads the market ahead of the David Simcock-trained Spanish Mission, who was the St Leger pick of Pricewise's Tom Segal this week resulting in a cut to 12-1 from 16-1 for Doncaster.
